The Lagos State Police Command has rescued four kidnapped children and safely reunited them with their parents following a swift intervention by police operatives at Alafia Bus Terminal in Coker-Orile, Lagos.

The rescue operation, carried out on May 8, 2026, was in line with the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, to combating crimes against children and protecting vulnerable residents across the state.

According to the Command, officers on routine patrol around Alafia Bus Terminal at about 11:40 p.m. became suspicious after spotting four children in the company of an unidentified woman preparing to board a luxury bus heading out of Lagos State. On noticing the presence of the police patrol team, the suspected trafficker reportedly abandoned the children and fled the scene to an unknown destination.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the children had earlier been kidnapped from the Ijesha-Tedo area of Lagos and were allegedly being transported out of the state under the cover of darkness before the timely intervention of the police.

The children were immediately taken into protective custody while efforts began to trace their families. Police authorities later confirmed that the children had been successfully reunited with their parents.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect and uncover other individuals connected to the kidnapping operation.

Commending the vigilance and professionalism of the patrol officers involved in the rescue mission, CP Tijani reassured residents of the Command’s continued dedication to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.

He also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety and whereabouts of their children and to promptly report any suspicious persons, movements, or activities involving children to the nearest police station or relevant security agency for immediate response.
