Prophet Ikuru Pleads with Youths to Avoid Violence, Demands Price Regulation
Prophet Godwin Ikuru Urges Nigerian Youths to Reconsider Protests, Calls for Targeted Action on Rising Commodity Prices
At a press conference held at his residence on Saturday, Prophet Godwin Ikuru appealed to Nigerian youths to think twice before participating in upcoming protests, warning of potential harm to the nation’s most vulnerable citizens. He emphasized that many poor Nigerians rely on daily earnings to survive and that disruptions from protests could exacerbate their situation.
Addressing the issue of rising commodity prices, Ikuru acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is not directly involved in food production but can play a crucial role in regulating prices. He commended the government’s efforts to support farmers but stressed that more needs to be done to control prices and ease the burden on ordinary Nigerians.
Ikuru cautioned that protests, if not focused specifically on the high cost of food and essential commodities, could damage the economy, citing Kenya’s past protests as an example. He expressed concerns about potential hidden agendas behind the planned protests, which he believes could aim to discredit the current administration, and urged parents to advise their children against participating.
Instead, Ikuru called for patience and proposed the establishment of a Ministry of Price Control to regulate the sale of goods and ensure prices reflect humanitarian considerations. He advocated for a more compassionate and regulated market system to bring meaningful change to Nigeria’s economic landscape.
