Renowned banker, entrepreneur and philanthropist, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, has marked his 60th birthday with a reflective message centred on faith, family, service and his enduring commitment to building institutions, empowering people and creating opportunities.
In a personal message shared on LinkedIn, Aig-Imoukhuede expressed profound gratitude to God for the gift of life, family, friendship and the opportunity to live a purposeful life.
> “Today, I turn 60,” he wrote. “I receive this milestone with profound gratitude to God, for life, for grace, for family, for friendship, and for the privilege of purpose.”
Reflecting on the various chapters of his life, he identified building as the central theme that has connected much of his personal and professional journey.
“To build institutions. To build people. To build opportunities. To help build a stronger Africa,” he stated.
For Aig-Imoukhuede, however, building goes beyond businesses and institutions. He described his journey as one also rooted in faith, family, service and values capable of outliving any individual.
He acknowledged that his achievements have never been the result of his efforts alone, expressing appreciation to his wife, Ofovwe, their children, family members, friends, colleagues, partners and mentors who have supported, challenged and shared the journey with him.
“Whatever has been accomplished has never been mine alone,” he said. “I have been blessed with extraordinary people who have challenged me, supported me and shared in the work.”
He also paid special tribute to his mother, Pastor Emily, and his close partner, Herbert, whose memories, he said, remain an important part of his life and journey.
Recalling his 50th birthday, Aig-Imoukhuede noted that he had described himself then as “God’s Work in Progress.” Ten years later, he said the description remains as relevant as ever.
“The building continues,” he declared.
Rather than viewing 60 as the conclusion of his journey, Aig-Imoukhuede sees the milestone as the beginning of another decade of purposeful work and service.
Looking ahead, he prayed for the grace, wisdom and strength to continue building with greater intentionality and generosity, while contributing to stronger institutions, broader opportunities and transformed lives.
