
The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) organized a one-day capacity building workshop/training for media practitioners on security reporting, tagged “Report Nigeria, Brand Nigeria.” The event held on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2024, at the LCCI Expo and Conference Center, Alausa, Ikeja.
The workshop aimed to equip journalists with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively report on security issues in Nigeria, promoting accurate and balanced reporting. The training covered various aspects of security reporting, including conflict-sensitive reporting, fact-checking, and ethical considerations.
The highlight of the workshop was the presentation of certificates to participants, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Martins Nwogoh, who was honored for his commitment to promoting effective security reporting. The certificate presentation took place at the Police Headquarters, Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos.
Comrade Samson Oki, National President of NAOSNP, presented the certificate to DCP Martins Nwogoh, commending him for his dedication to the cause of security reporting. Oki emphasized the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the media in promoting national security.
The workshop/training was a huge success, with participants expressing gratitude for the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in security reporting. NAOSNP reiterated its commitment to promoting responsible and accurate reporting, contributing to a safer and more secure Nigeria.
