LSSTF Boosts Lagos Police Operations with Vehicles, Bulletproof Vests, Ballistic Helmets for Violent Crime Response Unit

The drive to strengthen security architecture in Lagos received another major boost as the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) donated operational vehicles, bulletproof vests, and ballistic helmets to the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit of the Lagos State Police Command.
The intervention, aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, rapid response capability, and personnel safety, was formally presented on Friday, May 15, by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the LSSTF, Ayodele Ogunsan.

As Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre and one of Africa’s fastest-growing economic hubs, Lagos continues to face increasing security demands that require modern operational tools, improved mobility, and strategic support for frontline officers. The donation underscores the state’s commitment to sustaining peace, stability, and public confidence through continuous investment in security infrastructure.
The operational vehicles and protective gear were officially handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Fatai Tijani, during a ceremony attended by senior police officers and key security stakeholders.

The Violent Crime Response Unit was recently launched by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of efforts to strengthen rapid operational deployment and coordinated response mechanisms across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan reaffirmed the LSSTF’s unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies with operational logistics and modern protective equipment needed to improve policing efficiency and officer safety across Lagos State.

He emphasized that effective security management can only thrive through sustained collaboration between government institutions and security agencies, noting that proactive investment in modern security tools remains essential for combating emerging threats and maintaining law and order in the state.
In his remarks, CP Tijani applauded the LSSTF for its consistent partnership and timely intervention, describing the donation as impactful and strategic.

According to him, the operational vehicles and protective equipment will significantly strengthen mobility, operational readiness, and personnel protection within the Lagos State Police Command, particularly for officers attached to the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit.
