
The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security measures across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations, with the deployment of officers to strategic locations to ensure safety and public order.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, ordered a massive deployment of police personnel to worship centres, critical infrastructure, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, entry and exit routes, as well as other vulnerable points across the state.
The security initiative, according to the command, is in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at guaranteeing public safety during the festive period..
To ensure a hitch-free celebration, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force personnel, Counter Terrorism Units, EOD-CBRN operatives and Traffic Officers have been directed to intensify visibility policing, strengthen crowd control and implement robust crime prevention strategies in their respective jurisdictions.
The command also disclosed that security would be reinforced along major highways, linking roads, city centres and other strategic locations to ensure the protection of lives and property, while maintaining free flow of traffic across the state.
CP Fatai further warned officers and men of the command to remain professional, civil and courteous in the discharge of their duties throughout the festive season.
The police boss congratulated Muslim faithful in the state on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and wished them a peaceful and crime-free holiday. He also extended warm greetings to children across Lagos as the 2026 Children’s Day celebration coincides with the Sallah festivities.
He advised children and youths to shun violence, criminality and other social vices, urging them instead to embrace positive values and remain vigilant at all times.
The Commissioner of Police also appealed to residents to remain security conscious and promptly report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station. He urged travellers and motorists to cooperate with officers deployed across highways and other duty posts to ensure a peaceful, safe and orderly celebration across the state.
