In a landmark celebration of heritage and identity, Ogbueshi Allanah Chinedu Sydney, Group Chairman of Allanah Associates Nigeria Limited, took center stage as Chairman of the occasion at the cultural event themed “Exploring the Cultures of Canada – The Igbo Tribe, Nigeria (West Africa),” hosted by Luluanoli Ezeocha, CEO of Luluanoli HealthCare Solution.
Held on Saturday 7th June at La Cabane en Bois, Gatineau, Quebec, the event brought together Africans in the diaspora, Canadian dignitaries, and multicultural enthusiasts in a colorful festival of Igbo culture that featured music, fashion, traditional foods, and storytelling.
In his inspiring keynote address, Ogbueshi Allanah used the platform to champion Nigeria’s global cultural relevance, highlighting the event as a tool for repositioning Nigeria on the world stage.
“Today’s event is not only more than a celebration but also a cultural bridge linking generations and communities. It promotes understanding, connection, and well-being,” he stated, speaking directly to both Nigerian immigrants and their Canadian hosts.
Describing culture as a force for identity, healing, resistance, and legacy, he emphasized the power of African heritage in shaping the narrative of the continent and its people abroad.
“Culture tells our story and inspires our future,” Ogbueshi Allanah remarked. “To the African diaspora in Canada: you are cultural ambassadors. Carry your heritage with pride. It is not a burden—it is a gift.”
He acknowledged the role of visionary leaders like Lulu Anoli Ezeocha, whose commitment to cultural advocacy and community engagement made the event possible. Through this gathering, Allanah noted, Canada and Nigeria took another step toward deeper mutual respect, global connection, and unity through diversity.
“By gathering here today, we challenge stereotypes and reshape narratives around African identity with pride, creativity, and unity.”
He closed with gratitude to the Canadian community for their openness and participation, while declaring the event officially open to resounding applause. The occasion ended with traditional Igbo dances, networking, and communal feasting, leaving all in attendance with renewed pride and lasting impressions of cultural diplomacy in action.
