Ojokoro VGN End-of-Year Celebration Honours Officers, Recognises HRM Oba Adeshoga Williams Adeyiola Tomia I as Best Paramount Ruler Of The Year

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Ojokoro Command, on December 10, 2025, turned Odubela Camp, Aduta, into a hub of celebration and reflection as officers gathered to mark their end-of-year party and honour outstanding service in community security.
The event was held under the leadership of Dr. Temitope Odubela, Assistant Commander for Anti-Robbery, VGN Lagos State Command, a security professional whose command blends academic depth with field experience. Armed with an impressive portfolio of qualifications—including Doctor of Security Intelligence (DSI), Professor of Security Intelligence (PSI), Private Investigator (PI), Close Protection Officer (CPO), and Private Protection Agent (PPA)—Dr. Odubela has continued to set a high standard for discipline and professionalism within the Ojokoro Command.
During the ceremony, all active officers were formally honoured for their dedication, courage and sacrifices in protecting lives and property across their communities. The recognition, according to Dr. Odubela, was a way of boosting morale and reaffirming the command’s commitment to proactive crime prevention at the grassroots.

A major highlight of the gathering was the honour bestowed on His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeshoga Williams Adeyiola Tomia I, the Olu of Orile Alagbado, who emerged as the Most Paramount Ruler of the Year. The award celebrated the monarch’s unwavering support for local security initiatives and his consistent collaboration with vigilante operatives in maintaining peace and stability.
Speaking in an interview with The Torchlight Africa News, Oba Adeyiola Tomia I described vigilantes as the security operatives closest to the people. While acknowledging the police as valued partners, he stressed that vigilantes play a unique and critical role in crime prevention.
“Vigilantes are always among the people and understand the terrain,” the monarch said. “They can access major criminal flashpoints and curb crimes even before the police arrive at the scene.”
The event ended on a note of renewed resolve, with officers pledging continued vigilance and cooperation with traditional institutions and security agencies to ensure a safer Ojokoro and a more secure Lagos State.
