
The Lagos State Police Command on Day Four of the 2026 National Police Day 2026 convened a high-level Security Stakeholders’ Meeting and presented cheques worth ₦53.3 million to families of officers who died in the line of duty.
The event brought together key stakeholders, including the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Eminent Persons Forum, community and religious leaders, as well as members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria. The gathering focused on strengthening trust and collaboration between the police and the public through sustained community engagement.
Addressing participants, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, commended stakeholders for their continued support in crime prevention and control. He stressed the importance of synergy in tackling criminal activities, improving response time to distress calls, and sustaining peace and order across the state.

Fatai also highlighted key security challenges such as cultism and electoral violence, assuring that the Command would continue to deploy intelligence-led policing strategies and leverage technology to boost operational efficiency.
In a solemn highlight of the event, cheques totaling ₦53,387,209.48 were presented to families of fallen officers under the Nigeria Police Force Family Welfare Scheme. The initiative reflects the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to supporting the families of personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos Command, noting that the financial support would help ease the burdens faced by their families. The Commissioner reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the fallen heroes remain deeply valued and assured that the Force would continue to stand by their loved ones.
