The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dedicated its May 2026 Thanksgiving Service to media practitioners, offering prayers for divine intervention, protection, and improved welfare amid the evolving demands of the profession.

The service, themed “Created for Greater Impact,” spotlighted professionals across print, radio, television, and digital platforms, alongside their families, acknowledging their critical role in shaping public discourse.

Leading the prayers, the General Overseer of RCCG, Enoch Adeboye, invoked divine guidance, strength, and prosperity for journalists and media workers. He prayed for their protection and for wisdom to remain relevant in a rapidly changing global media landscape.

“As for Your children who are involved in media in any way… help them, support them; strengthen them; guide them; protect them. Let it be well with them,” he said.

In his sermon, Pastor Adeboye stressed the importance of purpose and destiny, referencing biblical teachings to remind worshippers that every individual has a divinely assigned role. He urged media professionals and congregants alike to seek clarity of purpose and align their actions with God’s plan to achieve meaningful impact.

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee… You have a role to play in that mighty plan,” he stated, encouraging personal reflection and commitment to fulfilling one’s calling.

Speaking after the service, Pastor Oladele Abiodun Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, commended media practitioners for their contributions to public awareness through information dissemination, analysis, and interpretation of events. However, he called for continuous improvement in professionalism and objectivity.

“They are doing well, but they can continue improving their objectivity and information delivery as the world keeps changing,” he noted.

The church also raised concerns about the welfare and safety of media professionals, urging employers and stakeholders to prioritise better remuneration and support systems. Balogun highlighted the risks journalists face in the line of duty, noting the impact on both practitioners and their families.

RCCG reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the media community through prayers and advocacy, while calling for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to enhance standards, safety, and welfare across the industry.

The special thanksgiving reflects growing recognition of the media’s vital role in national development and underscores the need for sustained support to ensure practitioners thrive in an increasingly dynamic environment.
