
NAWOJ Lagos Celebrates Prof. Abigail Ogwezzy as April 2026 Iconic Woman
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Lagos State Chapter, has named Professor Abigail Ndisika Ogwezzy as its Iconic Woman of the Month for April 2026, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to media education and national development.
The honour, awarded under the Association’s NAWOJ Lagos Woman of the Month initiative, spotlights exceptional women in Lagos who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and impactful service to society. The monthly recognition aims to highlight individuals whose work promotes professional standards, integrity, and empowerment.
Prof. Ogwezzy, a respected scholar in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos, was selected for her remarkable influence in advancing communication scholarship and shaping the next generation of media professionals. Her career as an academic, mentor, and thought leader has left a lasting imprint on students, practitioners, and researchers across Nigeria.

NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson, Jumoke Johnson, praised the honouree’s dedication to academic excellence and advocacy, noting that her contributions have strengthened the communication field and enriched national discourse. She added that Prof. Ogwezzy’s commitment to mentoring young professionals and empowering women in the media space makes her a deserving recipient of the recognition.
