The Nigerian Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, for six months following allegations of misconduct. The suspension, effective March 6, 2025, comes after a recommendation from the Senate Committee on Public Conduct, Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.
As part of the suspension terms, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s office will be locked, and she will be prohibited from accessing the National Assembly premises. Additionally, her salary, along with those of her legislative aides, will be withheld for the duration of the suspension.
The controversy began in February when the senator had a dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements in the chamber. Tensions escalated further when she later accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, adding fuel to the political drama surrounding her suspension.
