The  Ifako-Ijaye Ojokoro zone Hotelier Association held its annual end-of-the-year party on December 11, 2024, at the Royal Ascot on Olaniyi Street, Abule-Egba. The event was well attended by members of the association, government representatives, and stakeholders. The chairman of the association, Prince Ademola Adunola, began the event with opening remarks, where he expressed gratitude to the executive committee for organizing the event. He also discussed the development of the association and its role in promoting professionalism among hoteliers in the area.

Representatives from the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) Mrs Isoje Bunmi, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Mr Jagunmolu Ibarahim, and the Ifako-Ijaye Local Government were present at the event. They appreciated the association for its cooperation and adherence to government regulations. They acknowledged the hoteliers for making compliance seamless and maintaining a professional relationship with regulatory bodies. This, they emphasized, has fostered mutual respect and smoother operations between the association and the government.

The newly appointed representative of the Oko Oba Divisional Police Officer (DPO) addressed security concerns, advising hoteliers to install CCTV cameras in their establishments. He explained that while law enforcement cannot be everywhere at once, surveillance systems provide an added layer of security, ensuring the safety of hotel staff and lodgers. The representative emphasized the importance of proactive measures to prevent crime and maintain a secure environment for all.

Elder G. Lawal, the former chairman of the association, was also present at the event. In his remarks, he expressed joy at witnessing the association’s growth under the current leadership. He commended the members for sustaining the yearly event and maintaining a strong relationship with government agencies. Elder Lawal highlighted that the association’s commitment to compliance with tax regulations and government policies has earned it respect and recognition.

The event also served as an opportunity for members to reflect on the year’s successes and challenges. Chairman Prince Ademola Adunola shared his gratitude for the year, noting that the association had experienced no major setbacks or calamities. He attributed this to divine guidance and the collective efforts of the members. The chairman emphasized that the end-of-year party was a time to give thanks and build camaraderie among members.

Security agencies, including the police, were praised for their collaboration with the association. Prince Adunola emphasized that the police have been instrumental in maintaining order within the community. While other agencies, such as the navy and air force, were not involved in the association’s activities, local government officials and tax officers were considered integral to their operations. This close-knit relationship with relevant stakeholders underscores the association’s commitment to mutual cooperation.

As the event concluded, members of the association and guests expressed optimism for the coming year. With plans to enhance security measures, improve relationships with regulatory bodies, and strengthen the association’s foundation, the  Ifako-Ijaye Ojokoro some Hotelier Association looks forward to an even more successful 2025.
