The Enterprise Growth & Opportunities (EGO) Foundation says it has helped 10,533 women in business access loans and grants through proper bookkeeping practices.

Mr Toluwase Olaniyan, Executive Director of EGO Foundation, said the initiative was in partnership with Access Bank and Worden HCD.

He disclosed this on Tuesday at a women’s empowerment programme held in Ayobo-Ipaja, a suburb in Lagos State.

Olaniyan said the initiative was part of the foundation’s ‘SheEnabled’ project being implemented across Lagos.

He explained that the SheEnabled programme aims to equip women with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in today’s labour market.

According to him, empowering women supports community-wide economic growth and stability.

“Our goal at EGO Foundation is to provide women with knowledge and support to succeed in the labour market.

“Through SheEnabled, we teach women financial literacy and help them access loans and business grants,” Olaniyan said.

He said the programme includes training in bookkeeping, financial management, investment-focused savings, digital proficiency, and sustainable entrepreneurship.

“The women attended community-based sessions to learn how to track stock, record sales, and avoid financial losses.

“They also gained digital skills to grow their businesses and were taught how to save and invest wisely.

“They learnt to access funding and develop sustainable business models,” Olaniyan said.

He noted that the programme has made the women more self-sufficient and financially independent.

Olaniyan said the partnership with Access Bank and Worden HCD helped secure support for 10,533 women in business.

He added that 60,500 more women were indirectly reached through the SheEnabled initiative.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that beneficiaries thanked EGO Foundation and Access Bank for the empowerment programme.

They expressed hope that the training would lead to better financial habits among women, especially in their communities.

NAN also reports that pamphlets titled “Bookkeeping Made Easy” were distributed, with translations in local languages for better understanding. NAN
