The daughter of the Alagamo of Agamo, Oba Kehinde Jacob Falodun, has recounted the tragic circumstances surrounding the killing of the traditional ruler following an attack by suspected bandits on his palace in Ondo State.
The assailants reportedly stormed the palace on Wednesday evening in Agamo community, located in Akure North Local Government Area, firing gunshots that sent residents fleeing for safety.
Narrating the incident, the monarch’s daughter said the attackers invaded the palace and began shooting at her father. According to her, despite the gunfire, the attackers seized the monarch as he repeatedly declared his royal status.
“They invaded the palace and kept shooting. They later carried him away while he kept telling them he was a king. They beat him and attempted to take him from the palace,” she said.
She explained that the attackers eventually killed the monarch outside the palace premises.
The daughter added that the gunmen were dressed in outfits similar to those worn by Fulani herders and spoke Hausa. They were believed to have accessed the community through the Itaogbolu axis.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Command said the attack occurred at about 7:10 p.m. on February 18, 2026. The Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that officers received a distress call reporting that armed men had abducted the monarch from his residence.
According to the police, the traditional ruler was later found a short distance away with gunshot wounds and was confirmed dead at the scene. Tactical teams, in collaboration with Amotekun operatives, local hunters, and vigilantes, have since launched a manhunt for the suspects, while security surveillance has been intensified in surrounding communities.
