The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Olohundare Jimoh, has unveiled a new policing strategy aimed at strengthening professionalism, protecting human rights and deepening community engagement across the state.

Speaking during a media briefing, the police chief said the reforms are part of directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police, to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for more effective service delivery.

Jimoh explained that the command is placing renewed emphasis on community policing as a way of improving security and building stronger trust between the police and residents.

According to him, community involvement is critical in crime prevention and intelligence gathering.

“People must feel safe in their homes, on the streets and in their workplaces,” the commissioner said, stressing that the police must work closely with communities to understand local security challenges.

He added that officers across the command are being trained and mentored to ensure professionalism and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties.

The police boss maintained that the Lagos command will continue to deploy strategies aimed at preventing crime and sustaining the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state.
