The Lagos State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat armed robbery and other violent crimes across the State, with the arrest of four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate allegedly operating around the Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas.

The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), following credible intelligence and sustained surveillance operations.

The suspects were identified as Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24. They were reportedly apprehended at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, where operatives also conducted a search that led to the recovery of several items suspected to be proceeds and tools of criminal activities.

Items recovered include 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace and earrings, as well as three cutlasses.

The four suspects are currently in Police custody and are assisting investigators with ongoing investigations. The Command said efforts have also been intensified to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate who may be linked to the alleged criminal activities.

Commending the operatives for their swift response and intelligence-led approach, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, praised the VCRU for the successful operation.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.
