The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Olorundare Jimoh, has officially assumed office, vowing to enhance security, strengthen partnerships, and uphold professionalism within the force.

Speaking during a press briefing, Jimoh assured residents, businesses, and stakeholders of his commitment to crime prevention and effective policing. He acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor and senior officers in maintaining law and order, pledging to build on their achievements.

“The Lagos State Police Command will redouble its efforts in collaboration with the state government and the people to reduce crime and enhance public safety,” he stated. “We will ensure the protection of all investments, both local and foreign, within the state.”

Jimoh emphasized his commitment to upholding international policing standards and working closely with key stakeholders, including government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and security agencies, to combat crime effectively.

Under his leadership, the command will implement proactive crime prevention strategies, focusing on violent crimes, traffic robberies, and cult-related activities. He warned criminals to desist from unlawful acts or leave the state, affirming that Lagos would be made inhospitable for criminal elements.

He revealed that over 50 suspected cultists had been arrested and prosecuted, urging parents to discourage their wards from engaging in criminal activities. “We will not relent in ridding Lagos of cultism and other violent crimes,” he asserted.

Jimoh also reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on human rights abuses and corruption. “Every officer will be held accountable for their actions. Civility, professionalism, and respect for human rights will be strictly enforced,” he assured.

The Commissioner called on Lagos residents to support the police by reporting suspicious activities through designated hotlines and social media platforms. He also expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support in providing logistical resources for the police force.

Acknowledging the role of the media, Jimoh pledged to strengthen collaboration with journalists to foster transparency and public trust. “The relationship between the police and the media will be taken to greater heights under my leadership,” he concluded.

The new Commissioner of Police’s address signals a renewed focus on security, accountability, and community-driven policing in Lagos State.
