Tears, Triumph as David Exits MasterChef Nigeria, Fads and Favy Advance to ₦73 Million Grand Finale
The race for the coveted ₦73 million grand prize on MasterChef Nigeria has reached its climax, with fan favourite David exiting the competition in an emotional semifinal that left viewers and contestants in tears.
David’s departure followed a high-pressure culinary challenge that saw the Top 3 contestants—David, Fads and Favy—tasked with recreating an intricate signature dish prepared by renowned chefs Eros and Stone. The challenge demanded absolute precision, as only the best performers would secure a place in the grand finale.
Before the cook-off began, the contestants shared the expertly crafted meal with the judges before being informed that they would have to replicate every detail of the dish. With Favy’s immunity advantage no longer in play, all three contestants competed on equal terms.
As the countdown began, Chef Stone reminded them: “Precision is your friend. Panic is your enemy.”
Fads rose magnificently to the occasion, delivering a technically impressive dish that earned high praise from the judges for its balance, presentation and flawless execution. Her outstanding performance secured the coveted Dish of the Day title and the first spot in the grand finale.
Favy also impressed the judges with a composed performance and a well-executed dish, earning her the second finalist position.
David, despite giving the challenge everything he had, struggled to perfect key elements of his meal. His risotto failed to achieve the desired texture, while his duck lacked the expected depth of flavour, ultimately costing him a place in the final showdown.
The announcement of his elimination sparked one of the season’s most emotional moments as David broke down while reflecting on his remarkable journey in the competition. Favy, overwhelmed by the emotional atmosphere, initially struggled to process the news that she had secured her place in the finale.
Although his MasterChef journey ended, David received a life-changing consolation. Impressed by his passion, resilience and culinary potential, the judges described him as “a diamond in the rough” and awarded him a fully sponsored six-month professional training programme at Chef Stone’s Red Dish Culinary School, followed by a paid six-month internship at Chef Eros’ Ile Eros Restaurant.
The gesture underscored the judges’ belief that the competition may have ended for David, but his culinary career is only just beginning.
Attention now shifts to the highly anticipated grand finale, where Fads and Favy will battle for the MasterChef Nigeria title and the life-changing ₦73 million prize in one final culinary showdown.
