
In a major breakthrough against violent crime, the Zone 2 Police Command has arrested twenty (20) individuals linked to a brutal cult-related attack that led to the murder of a police officer in the Ilesi community, near Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The incident occurred on 29th November 2025 at approximately 9:30 PM, when suspected members of the Neo Black Movement (NBM), also known as the Aye Fraternity, launched a retaliatory invasion of the Ilesi area. The group, reportedly seeking revenge for an earlier assault on one of their members, created panic while hunting for rival cultists.
Tragically, a police officer residing in the community, along with concerned neighbors, attempted to intervene. The suspects opened fire, killing the officer on the spot and seriously injuring two residents. In a gruesome act, the attackers amputated the officer’s left hand and fled with it.
Swiftly responding to the heinous crime, the Zonal Dragon Squad launched a coordinated intelligence-led operation. In the early hours of 1st December 2025, officers raided a hideout in the Ogbere area of Ogun State, where the suspects were believed to be regrouping. The operation led to the arrest of 20 individuals involved in cultism, armed robbery, murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
