A syndicate of thieves who drugged and robbed a Lagos-based journalist, Mr. Abayomi Ajiboye, have been arraigned in court. The suspects, Ronald Eyam, Uche Mathew, and John, were brought before the Customary Court Ejigbo on Monday and charged with two counts of felony and theft.

Ajiboye, a journalist with Newsbustang.com, recounted his harrowing experience on August 22, where he was drugged and robbed of his phone and 250,000 Naira while commuting from Oshodi to Isheri-Oshun.

The suspects, who were arrested by the CP Tactical Squad Ijegun Annex, led by SP Aduroja Olurotimi, confessed to being part of a syndicate that targets victims using illicit drugs.

The police recovered Ajiboye’s phone and apprehended the receiver of the stolen phone, as well as the other gang members, at their residence in a nearby ghetto.

The case has been adjourned until October 23 for further proceedings, while the suspects remain in prison.

This incident highlights the growing concern of drugging and robbery in Lagos, and the need for increased vigilance and security measures to protect citizens.
