The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 (Lagos and Ogun States), AIG Adegoke Fayoade, hosted a vibrant sendforth and retirement party on Thursday to celebrate newly promoted Commissioners of Police and recently retired officers for their outstanding service to the nation
The event, which drew dignitaries from the business, security, and academic sectors, served as a heartfelt tribute to the honorees’ dedication, professionalism, and contributions to the Nigeria Police Force.
Among those celebrated were CP Ajao Saka Adewale, now the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and CP Martin Nwogoh, recently appointed to the Police Airwing, Force Headquarters, Abuja. AIG Fayoade, who has known CP Nwogoh for over three decades, described him as “highly cerebral and intelligent,” while praising CP Ajao as “hardworking and sincere.”
“I commend both officers for their commitment and sterling performance while serving in Zone 2. Since assuming their new roles, they’ve continued to excel, CP Ajao has significantly reduced crime in the FCT, and CP Nwogoh has been proactively engaging Airwing units across the country,” Fayoade said.
The AIG also applauded the retiring officers, acknowledging their tireless efforts in safeguarding the country. “Today’s event is well deserved. Policing is not a tea party—it demands sacrifice, teamwork, and long hours. We owe a duty to our communities to remain accessible and trustworthy,” he noted.
He further praised the Inspector General of Police for introducing an award system to recognize officers with outstanding performance, calling it a strong motivator for excellence.
Goodwill messages were delivered by several notable guests, including Chief Charles Odunukwe, President of NAOSNP Mr. Samson Oki, security expert Ibadin, Otunba Adebiyi, and Prof. Francis Osinbowale of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), who all applauded the honorees for their unwavering service.
The celebration also featured the presentation of awards and gifts, with delicious meals and lively music from the Police Band and a DJ, making the night a memorable one for all in?
