In a massive effort to combat hunger and poverty, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched the 2025 Annual National Food Intervention Project, valued at N16 billion. This initiative aims to distribute one million bags of 10kg rice to vulnerable Nigerians across the 774 Local Government Areas ¹[2).
At the launch ceremony in Kano, Aliko Dangote, represented by his daughter Marya, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to supporting communities in line with its core values. He noted that food remains a basic human necessity, and the foundation has adopted food distribution as a key intervention strategy.
The foundation is collaborating with state governments to ensure the food reaches the most vulnerable individuals. In Kano State alone, 120,000 bags of rice will be distributed across 44 Local Government Areas.
Governor Abba K. Yusuf of Kano State commended the initiative, describing Aliko Dangote as humane. The state government has set up a committee to ensure transparency in the distribution process.
The Aliko Dangote Foundation has a history of philanthropy, having donated millions to combat Ebola, COVID-19, and support education initiatives in Nigeria and beyond
