He tasks journalists on national interest, caution, objectivity, observation, timeliness and the ethics of the noble profession.

Consequent upon the invitation of the Public Relations Officer(PRO), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Corps I(ASCI) Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, anipr, as a guest speaker at the 1-day Capacity Building Media Workshop for practitioners, in the media sector, organised by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers(NAOSNP), today, Wednesday, 11th May, 2022, at the Golden gate, Ikoyi, the Civil Defence PRO(CDPRO), in Lagos, tasked the noble and gentle men of the press on national interest, caution, observation, timeliness, objectivity and sincere adherence to the ethics of the noble profession, amidst other pivotal tools.

The theme of the event, “ A – Day Capacity Building Workshop/ Training for Media Practitioners on Security Reporting,” according to NAOSNP, was organized to celebrate the just held World Press Freedom Day and especially, to retrain, sensitize and deepen the knowledge of journalists on the rudiments and ethics of the profession amongst other things.

The Civil Defence PRO, delivered his lecture today at the event in line with the theme of the event, which was anchored on “Security Reporting: the Role of the Media.” He opined in his lecture, amongst other things saying, “the need for the media to collaborate with security agencies can no longer be overemphasized, following the current realities of our world today.”

The event, which was segmented into both a lecture series and a panel session, with a formidable attendance from both the conventional and non – conventional media, was hosted by the Chief Host of the day, Assistant – Inspector – General of Police(AIG) Adeleke Bode, AIG Zone 2, Onikan , Lagos, who was ably represented by Superintendent of Police(SP) Ibrahim Bakare and Mr. Samson Okin, the Host and the President of NAOSNP. It also featured the following lecturers and panelists; Major Augustine Kolawole Bello, PRO 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army(NA), Ikeja, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, Mr. Matthew Ibadin(CEO/security expert), Mr. Oba Adeoye(senior media personality) and Mr. Tunji Makanjuola(ICT expert), amidst other noble practitioners, who participated at the event.

Finally, the Civil Defence PRO, in Lagos, on behalf of the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Edenabu Douglas Okoro, msc, acma, cna, congratulated the entire executives of NAOSNP, on this laudable development, in the history of the association’s practice of journalism, with integrity and professionalism, especially with the advent of the new media, as our current reality
