
The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, sustained momentum for the 2026 National Police Week with a vibrant two-hour walkathon aimed at promoting fitness, strengthening community engagement, and boosting public confidence in policing.
The exercise, themed “Together We Walk, Together We Secure,” kicked off from the FCID Annex office and moved through the Kam Salem House/Force Headquarters Annex Lagos roundabout corridor, covering major adjoining routes before returning to base. The procession featured a lively Police Band, medical personnel on standby, and well-coordinated pilot and backup vehicles. Participants were also provided with water and refreshments, while members of the press and adequate security personnel ensured a smooth and safe outing.
Leading the walk was the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of FCID Annex Lagos, Simeon U. Akpanudom, alongside senior officers and personnel of the department. During the exercise, officers engaged members of the public and the media, reinforcing the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to community partnership and public safety.
Beyond its symbolic value, the walkathon showcased the physical fitness and operational readiness of police personnel, highlighting their preparedness in carrying out their duties effectively.
Speaking during the event, AIG Akpanudom reaffirmed the FCID’s alignment with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji R Disu, and the theme of this year’s celebration, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” He stressed that strengthening collaboration with citizens remains central to enhancing security, fostering peace, and building mutual trust nationwide.
He further urged members of the public to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information, assuring that the Force remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and dedicated service to the nation.
