The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has extended heartfelt congratulations to its former Chairperson, Dr. Adeola Ekine, following her appointment as Special Adviser to the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahaya.

The announcement was made during the NUJ National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on August 12, 2025, in Kano State.

Dr. Ekine, a distinguished journalist and public affairs expert, has long been celebrated for her impactful work in media development, gender advocacy, and the empowerment of women. Her tenure in NAWOJ Lagos—as Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary of the NUJ Lagos Information Chapel—was marked by dynamic leadership and strategic partnerships with public, private, and cultural institutions. Notably, her team’s courtesy visit to the Oba of Ikateland helped strengthen community ties and amplify women’s voices in journalism.

She holds an Honorary Doctoral Fellowship from the Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM) and is a proud member of NAWOJ, NUJ, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and IPSM UK.

NAWOJ Lagos expressed full confidence in Dr. Ekine’s ability to bring her vast experience and visionary leadership to the national stage, supporting the NUJ President in driving forward the union’s mission across Nigeria.
