The Governor said all activities of his government are geared towards ensuring a friendly environment for private investments including financial institutions to thrive in the state.
He noted that since his administration came on board in 2017, it has shown determination to change the fortunes of the Sunshine State for good through various programmes and projects.
The Governor further stressed that his administration would sustain its industrial drives, emphasising that without industrialisation there cannot be meaningful economic development.
Arakunrin Akeredolu maintained that his administration would continue to partner and support genuine investors to further boost the socio-economic status of the state.
He noted that the Amotekun Corps was established to deal with security threats and challenges ranging from kidnappings, ritual killings, armed robberies, rape to arson.
The Governor disclosed that his administration is also embarking on aggressive infrastructural development across the state.
“As a way of consolidating on the gains of our First Term, we came up with the 8-point “REDEEMED” Agenda, which emphasises Rural and Agricultural Development, Development through Massive Infrastructure and Maintenance of Law and Order for Adequate Security, among others.
“Our massive infrastructural development has been unprecedented as road construction is being witnessed in the entire State. We have been able to build hundreds of kilometers of roads and this has, in no small measure, enhanced economic activities in the State.
“Without industrialisation, we know, there cannot be meaningful economic development. Consequently, we took the bull by the horn in this regards by creating the most conducive developmental platform for healthy growth of industries. We reached out to investors outside the shores of Nigeria through our Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA).
“Today, at our Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub at Ore, we can boast of the presence of various categories of industrial activities such as textile, wood, ethanol, truck plant/assembly, among others. The overall effect of these is enhancement of the State’s economy. Our State also has various windows of opportunities through the Micro-credit Agency for the people to have access to various forms of loans for economic enhancement.
“We equally saw the need to harvest the potential in our youth and channel same towards productivity. The establishments of the Ondo State Entrepreneurship Agency (ONDEA) aim at eliminating poverty through entrepreneurship knowledge economy, innovation and technology. A good number of our youths have immensely benefitted from the activities of ONDEA and are today taken out of the bedeviling thorns of poverty.
“Our State has been a safe haven for financial institutions and their activities because it is one of the most secure and peaceful States in Nigeria. We are conscious of the fact that no meaningful economic development can take place in an atmosphere devoid of security and peace.
“Faced with a great deal of security threats and challenges ranging from kidnapping, ritual killing, armed robbery, rape, to arson, we established the Amotekun Corps. Therefore, the improved security situation being enjoyed in Ondo State has led to the influx of banks, other financial institutions, hospitality enterprises and other corporate/private businesses into our State,” Governor Akeredolu said.
