In a major political twist, Hon. Festus Akingbaso, the lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akingbaso made the announcement on the floor of the National Assembly, stunning colleagues and drawing reactions across party lines. His defection marks a significant shift in Ondo State’s political landscape, especially with the upcoming elections in view.
Speaking on his decision, the lawmaker pointed to persistent and irreconcilable internal crises within the PDP as the driving force behind his move. He described the party’s instability as a barrier to meaningful representation and progress.
With this defection, Akingbaso becomes the latest in a growing list of politicians abandoning the PDP, signaling what many see as a deepening challenge for the opposition ahead of future politic
al contests.
