Lagos Police Calm Fears, Deploy Heavy Security Over Viral School Attack Threat Notice
The Lagos State Police Command has responded to a circulating threat notice reportedly found pasted within a school environment, alleging that armed bandits planned to attack and abduct schoolchildren.
In a swift reaction, the Command assured parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents across Lagos State that there is currently no verified intelligence confirming any imminent attack or security breach targeting schools or communities in the state.
The Command emphasized that while all security-related reports are treated with utmost seriousness, members of the public should remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic or the spread of unverified information.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has ordered an immediate assessment of the situation and directed the deployment of enhanced, watertight security measures across the affected area and other strategic locations within the state.
According to the Command, police operatives—working in coordination with other security agencies—have been mobilized to strengthen surveillance around schools, critical infrastructure, and vulnerable communities to ensure continued safety.
Reaffirming its stance, the Command stated that Lagos State remains secure and that security agencies will not tolerate any attempt by criminal elements to cause fear, disrupt public peace, or target residents. It added that anyone found engaging in acts capable of inciting panic or insecurity will be decisively dealt with in accordance with the law.
Residents were also urged to stay alert and support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information. The Command stressed that effective policing depends on strong collaboration between the public and security agencies.
