The Lagos State Police Command has recorded major breakthroughs in its fight against crime, successfully foiling kidnapping attempts, arresting criminal suspects, and recovering dangerous weapons and other exhibits during operations carried out across the state in May 2026.

Speaking during a press briefing, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property through proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations, and swift responses to criminal activities.

According to the police boss, the Command remains steadfast in its determination to sustain peace and public confidence by intensifying efforts against criminal elements operating within Lagos State.

CP Fatai disclosed that several operational successes were recorded within the month under review, including the prevention of kidnapping incidents and the arrest of suspects linked to armed robbery, cultism, stealing, conspiracy, and unlawful possession of firearms.

The Commissioner revealed that a total of ten suspects were arrested during various operations conducted by the Command.

Items recovered from the suspects include a double-barrel pump-action gun, three AK-47 rifles, two submachine guns (SMGs), one revolver pistol, one short pistol, one fabricated pistol, and three locally made pistols.

Other exhibits recovered include six magazines, 42 live ammunition, one dummy gun, a TVS motorcycle, an axe, and several other dangerous items allegedly used as weapons by the suspects.

 

The Lagos Police Command stated that the recoveries and arrests underscore its unwavering resolve to rid the state of criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents across all parts of Lagos.

CP Fatai assured residents that the Command would continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, community engagement, and strategic security operations aimed at maintaining law and order throughout the state.
