The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has strengthened the operational capacity of the Lagos State Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with the donation of bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets aimed at enhancing the safety of officers on duty.
The protective equipment was formally presented to the State Commander of the NDLEA Lagos State Strategic Command, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Abubakar Liman Wali, by the Director of Administration of the LSSTF, Mr. Adegbola Lewis, on behalf of the Fund’s Executive Secretary/CEO, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan.
The presentation ceremony was attended by senior officers of the NDLEA Lagos Command, including the Head of Media and Advocacy, Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN) Mallum Musa; the Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics (ASN) Azeez Akinsola; and other officials of the agency.
Speaking during the handover, ACGN Wali expressed gratitude to the LSSTF for the intervention, noting that narcotics enforcement operations often expose officers to significant security risks. He described the donation as timely and essential, adding that modern protective equipment would not only enhance officer safety but also improve operational effectiveness during field assignments.
The donation underscores the LSSTF’s continued commitment to supporting security agencies across Lagos State through strategic interventions designed to improve public safety and strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
Established in 1989, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is Nigeria’s foremost anti-narcotics agency, charged with combating the cultivation, production, trafficking, sale, and abuse of illicit drugs and psychotropic substances. The agency is also responsible for investigating and prosecuting drug-related offences, dismantling trafficking networks, promoting drug abuse prevention through advocacy and public education, rehabilitating drug users, and collaborating with local and international partners to curb substance abuse and drug-related crimes.
