LSSTF Boosts NDLEA Operations with Protective Gear, Declares Lagos Nigeria’s Safest State
The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security across the state with the donation of bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and raincoats to the Lagos State Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The donation, facilitated through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), underscores Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s continued investment in enhancing the operational capacity, safety and welfare of security personnel protecting Nigeria’s commercial capital.
Presenting the equipment during an official visit to the NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command, the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, declared that Lagos remains the safest state in Nigeria, attributing the achievement to the state government’s unwavering commitment to security.
According to Ogunsan, Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration has consistently provided the leadership and support needed to strengthen security agencies through the provision of operational vehicles, communication gadgets, specialised equipment and other logistics.
“Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is the brain behind all that we do for security agencies in Lagos. I am here today to celebrate the best. I am celebrating the best Governor in Nigeria as far as security is concerned. Lagos is the best and the safest state in the country,” he said.
Ogunsan also commended the leadership of the NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command under Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Wali Liman Abubakar, describing it as one of the agency’s most outstanding commands nationwide.
He said the donated protective gear would enhance officers’ safety and improve operational effectiveness during patrols and anti-drug operations.
“We have come to donate these bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and raincoats so that you can do more and achieve more. We want to ensure that our officers are adequately protected while carrying out their duties. Please make good use of these items, and we remain open to further collaboration,” he stated.
Ogunsan also issued a stern warning to criminal elements, stressing that Lagos would not provide a safe haven for lawbreakers.
“Lagos is not vacant. We will not tolerate anything that threatens the peace and security of our state. Lagos is security-conscious and will not harbour criminals. We are monitoring activities on land, at sea and in the air,” he warned.
Responding, the Commander of the NDLEA Lagos State Strategic Command, ACGN Abubakar Liman Wali, expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and the LSSTF for the timely intervention.
He noted that the donation of bulletproof vests, ballistic helmets and 100 raincoats would significantly improve the safety and welfare of officers, particularly during the rainy season.
“I sincerely appreciate Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the LSSTF CEO, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, for this generous support. These items will greatly enhance the safety of our officers while carrying out their responsibilities,” he said.
Wali reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse through sustained enforcement operations and public enlightenment campaigns.
As a mark of appreciation, he presented a special souvenir to the LSSTF CEO.
The presentation further highlights the Lagos State Government’s strategy of strengthening security through sustained collaboration with law enforcement agencies, while prioritising the welfare and protection of frontline officers safeguarding lives and property across the state.
