MOVING LAGOS FORWARD: ROUTE COMM SONUSI, FRSC LAGOS SECTOR WIN BIG AS LAGOS TRAFFIC RADIO CLOCKS 10

For their outstanding contribution to the heavy task of traffic management in Lagos on a daily basis, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos State and its Public Education Officer, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi were celebrated by Africa’s first exclusive traffic radio, Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1FM recently. This honour was done as the radio station marked its 10 years of operation with pomp recently in Ikeja, Lagos, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

The celebratory event was attended by government functionaries including the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Shina Thorpe who represented the Honorable Commissioner, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso; the Sector Commander of FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide was ably represented by Deputy Corps Commander Lucas Oguntade DCC Operations in company of SRC Michael Osuagwu; the Lagos Police PRO, SP Benjamin Hundeyin represented CP Sylvester Abiodun Alabi; officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA); and officials from the Ogun counterpart traffic agency, TRACE. Members from different NGOs, media professionals, and other stakeholders were also in attendance.

The Award conferred on the FRSC Lagos Sector Command was the Excellence Award in appreciation of the Command’s immeasurable support to the station while the Award of Distinction as Outstanding Resource Person of the Decade was presented to the Sector Public Education Officer, RC Olabisi Sonusi, the Staff Officer Public Education Officer
FRSC Lagos Sector Command, Route Commander Jesutomipe Mala confirmed to Trek Africa Newspaper.

The General Manager of the station, Mr Tayo Akanle in his welcome address appreciated Lagos State Government and their supervising Ministry, Ministry of Information and Strategy for their support over the years. He also appreciated all his team for taking the station to an enviable position.

It will be recalled that in order to assuage the intense hustle and bustle of the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria, the former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola commissioned the radio station in 2012. The Lagos Traffic Radio 96.1FM is exclusively dedicated to monitoring and reporting the traffic situation in Lagos.
