Ondo Police Debunk ‘Bandits Arrested at Akure Airport’ Reports, Confirm Arrest of Kidnap Logistics SuppliersThe Ondo State Police Command has dismissed reports circulating across some media platforms claiming that four bandits were arrested at the Akure Airport, describing the information as false and misleading.
In a press statement, the Command clarified that no such arrest took place at the airport, stressing that there was no security breach at the facility.
According to the police, the Command instead received credible intelligence from a concerned citizen about suspicious activities linked to suspected kidnappers around the Eleyewo axis of Akure.
Acting swiftly on the information, police operatives carried out a targeted operation in the area, leading to the arrest of two suspects believed to be logistics suppliers for kidnapping operations within the state.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were providing support services for kidnap gangs, and they have since made useful confessional statements aiding ongoing investigations and efforts to track down other members of the criminal network.
The Command therefore urged the public to disregard the inaccurate reports alleging that bandits were arrested at the airport, warning that such claims are capable of creating unnecessary panic among residents.
The police further reassured the public that security around critical infrastructure, including the airport, remains intact and uncompromised, encouraging residents to continue their lawful activities without fear.
The Commissioner of Police also commended citizens for their vigilance and cooperation, reiterating the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Ondo State.
