Pernod Ricard Nigeria, NAFDAC Strengthen Alliance to Combat Counterfeit Products, Boost Consumer Protection
Pernod Ricard Nigeria has reinforced its commitment to protecting consumers and tackling counterfeit products by deepening its partnership with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The renewed collaboration was the focus of a courtesy visit by the company’s senior management team to NAFDAC’s Lagos office, where both organisations discussed strategies to strengthen cooperation in safeguarding product integrity, promoting responsible business practices, and supporting sustainable growth within Nigeria’s beverage industry.
Speaking during the visit, Operations Director, Bode Omosagba, reaffirmed Pernod Ricard Nigeria’s commitment to supporting NAFDAC’s regulatory mandate.
“As a responsible organisation, we recognise the critical role NAFDAC plays in protecting consumers and fostering an enabling environment for business growth. We value our relationship with the Agency and remain committed to supporting its mandate,” Omosagba said.
He also highlighted the company’s sustainability initiatives, including the Glass to Life campaign, which promotes the collection and recycling of used bottles to reduce environmental impact, and the global Drink More Water campaign, designed to encourage hydration and responsible alcohol consumption.
Pernod Ricard Nigeria said it remains committed to maintaining strict regulatory standards while offering a portfolio of premium brands, including the locally produced Imperial Blue, alongside internationally recognised labels such as Martell Cognac, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Absolut Vodka, The Glenlivet Scotch Whisky, and Chivas Regal Whisky.
The company’s delegation included Nnenna Duru, Corporate Affairs Manager; Adebisi Afolabi, Head of Supply Chain and Demand Planning; and Abayomi Oguntola, Supply/Logistics Coordinator.
Responding, Dr. Olakunle Olaniran, Director of the Port Inspection Directorate at NAFDAC, commended Pernod Ricard Nigeria for its commitment to regulatory compliance and responsible business conduct.
He reaffirmed NAFDAC’s dedication to protecting public health while facilitating trade and creating an enabling environment for investment, stressing that stronger collaboration between regulators and industry players is essential to combating counterfeiting and enhancing consumer confidence.
Dr. Olaniran also encouraged greater local production and technology transfer, describing both as vital to Nigeria’s industrialisation and economic development.
As part of the global Pernod Ricard Group, a leading wines and spirits company, Pernod Ricard Nigeria continues to drive sustainability through its four strategic pillars: Nurturing Terroir, Valuing People, Circular Making, and Responsible Hosting, while delivering premium consumer experiences across the country.
