Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected member of the Eiye Confraternity cult group and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol during an intelligence-driven operation in Mushin, Lagos.
The arrest, which forms part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to tackle cultism, violent crimes and the proliferation of illegal firearms across the state, followed credible intelligence about suspected cult-related activities around Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.
Acting swiftly on the information, police operatives deployed a surveillance team to the area, leading to the arrest of 24-year-old Segun Alani, male.
A search of the suspect’s bag reportedly uncovered one locally made single-barrel pistol concealed inside it.
The suspect remains in police custody and is assisting investigators with useful information as the investigation continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-led action.
He reiterated the Command’s determination to dismantle cult groups, recover illegal firearms and prevent violent crimes across Lagos State.
CP Fatai also warned cultists and other criminal elements to abandon their activities or face the full weight of the law.
