The Responsible Gaming Against Addiction Foundation (RGAAF) today announced the launch of the “Help a Life” Campaign, a major national initiative focused on the prevention, education, and treatment of gambling harms in Nigeria. The campaign was unveiled during the premiere of the Foundation’s powerful new documentary, Behind the Bet, which exposes the human cost of gambling addiction across the nation.

The Behind the Bet documentary provides an unflinching look at the devastating impact of problem gambling on individuals, families, and communities. Featuring personal stories, expert insights, and data-driven analysis, the film serves as the cornerstone of the “Help a Life” Campaign, aiming to break the stigma and spark a crucial national conversation.

The “Help a Life” Campaign is a multi-pronged effort designed to:

· Educate the Public: Raise awareness about the signs of gambling addiction and its associated financial, mental, and social harms.
· Provide Support: Offer accessible resources, a dedicated helpline, and pathways to professional counselling and treatment for affected individuals and their loved ones.
· Promote Prevention: Implement community-based programs and school initiatives to foster healthier attitudes towards gambling and money management, particularly among youth.
· Advocate for Policy: Work with stakeholders to champion responsible gambling practices and stronger consumer protection frameworks.

“Gambling addiction is a growing public health concern in Nigeria, often hidden in plain sight,” said [Name, Title] of the Responsible Gaming Against Addiction Foundation. “Behind the Bet reveals the real stories behind the statistics. With the ‘Help a Life’ Campaign, we are moving from awareness to action. Our mission is to prevent harm, offer a lifeline to those struggling, and foster a culture of responsible behavior.”

The Foundation calls on government agencies, community leaders, healthcare providers, the media, and the public to join this vital effort to mitigate the social and economic burdens of gambling addiction.
