Sanwo-Olu Applauds Police Over Operation Kosaye as 88 Suspects Arrested, Five Kidnap Victims Rescued
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their intensified crackdown on criminal elements through the ongoing Operation Kosaye, a joint security operation across Lagos and Ogun states.
The coordinated operation has recorded significant successes, including the arrest of 88 suspects, the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition, and the neutralisation of four suspected criminals during a gun duel with security operatives.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the operation as a major step towards strengthening security and ensuring the safety of residents in both states.
“We will continue to work with the police and other security agencies to ensure that our state remains safe and secure for residents and visitors,” the governor said.
He praised the efforts of the police under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, for the successful operation and also acknowledged the cooperation of the Ogun State Government.
“We appreciate the huge efforts of the police, as directed by Inspector-General Tunji Disu, in arresting the suspects and the cooperation of our neighbours in Ogun State. This is the way it should be,” Sanwo-Olu added.
The governor noted the increased security presence across Lagos and Ogun, where police commands have displayed recovered weapons and paraded suspects as a clear warning that criminal activities will not be tolerated in either state.
Operation Kosaye, meaning “no space for criminals,” is a renewed security initiative aimed at dismantling kidnapping syndicates, armed robbery gangs, and other violent criminal networks operating across the Southwest.
As part of the operation, security operatives are conducting intensive bush-combing exercises along the forest boundary between Lagos and Ogun states, particularly around the J3/J4 axis of Ogbere in Ogun State, to flush out criminal hideouts.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that kidnappers and other criminals have no safe haven through sustained intelligence-led operations and strategic security interventions.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also urged Lagos residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information on criminal activities and hideouts.
“We will do our best to ensure that our law enforcement agencies are well motivated through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF),” the governor assured.
The latest achievements under Operation Kosaye underscore the growing collaboration between Lagos and Ogun states in tackling insecurity and restoring public confidence in law enforcement across the region.
