Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Musbau Ayinde Olayiwola Obanla, fondly known as Baba Obanla, describing the loss as both personal and monumental.

 

The respected elder statesman and political icon from Ipokia Local Government Area, Ogun State, died in the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025, after a brief illness. He was aged 80.

 

In a heartfelt condolence message to the Obanla family, Senator Adeola said the passing of Baba Obanla “is a personal loss, not only to me as the Senator of Ogun West Senatorial District, but indeed a great loss to the good people of Ipokia, Ogun West, and Ogun State at large, where he served as a dedicated and active member of the Elders Council.”

 

The senator recalled Baba Obanla’s unwavering support throughout his political journey, noting that the deceased “was totally committed to my political aspiration during his lifetime.”

 

Chief Musbau Ayinde Olayiwola Obanla was widely celebrated for his sterling contributions to community development and public service. His career spanned several strategic roles, including Ipokia District Council Officer-in-Charge of Education, Purchasing Manager at West Africa Portland Cement Company Ltd, pioneer Administrative Manager of Portland Transport in Sagamu, Vice Chairman of Ipokia Local Government (2004), and Chairman of the Ipokia Council Transition Committee.

 

Until his death, he served as a member of the Governing Council of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, and was a respected member of the Ogun State Elders Advisory Council appointed by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

 

Senator Adeola prayed for the repose of Baba Obanla’s soul and asked God to comfort the family and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
