NUJ Lagos Unveils 2025 Press Week… A Week of Engagement, Learning, and Celebration for Journalists

The Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced its readiness to host the 2025 Press Week, a week-long celebration scheduled for Monday, November 24 to Sunday, November 30, 2025.

This year’s Press Week is themed “Unlocking Opportunities for Businesses in a Challenging Economy: The Role of the Media / Roadmaps to Energy Security in Nigeria.”

Speaking on the forthcoming event, NUJ Lagos Chairman, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, said the Press Week offers a much-needed opportunity for journalists to unwind, reconnect, and strengthen professional bonds.

“Journalists work tirelessly, and it is important that we create time to celebrate one another. Press Week is an annual tradition, and we encourage all members to take advantage of it to refresh and network,” Ajayi said.

The activities will kick off with a Health Walk on Monday, November 24, beginning at 7 a.m. under the Ikeja Bridge, followed by sporting activities at the NUJ Secretariat.

The 2025 Press Week Lecture will hold on Wednesday, November 26, at the BOS Hall, LTV Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja, starting at 10 a.m. The event is expected to attract industry leaders, media professionals, dignitaries, and students of journalism.

On Thursday, November 27, the popular Media Rendezvous will take centre stage from 4 p.m., featuring inter-chapel cultural presentations, including dance and singing contests.

Friday, November 28, will feature a Juma’at Service at the Lagos State Secretariat Central Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, followed later in the evening by a Gala and Awards Night at the BOS Hall. Distinguished individuals and organisations who have made notable contributions in various sectors will be honoured.

The week-long celebration will conclude on Sunday, November 30, with a Thanksgiving Service at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, beginning at 10 a.m.

The NUJ Lagos Council expressed gratitude to its sponsors—Lotus Bank, Dangote Group, FrieslandCampina WAMPCO, UBA, and Stitches & Prints Limited—for their unwavering support in making the 2025 Press Week a memorable event.
