
The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) organized a one-day capacity building workshop/training for media practitioners on security reporting in collaborations with the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, tagged “Report Nigeria, Brand Nigeria.” The event held on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2024, at the LCCI Expo and Conference Center, Alausa, Ikeja with the recently retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, AIG Zone 2 as the Keynote speaker.
The workshop aimed to equip journalists with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively report on security issues in Nigeria, promoting accurate, curb fake news and balanced reporting. The training covered various aspects of security reporting, including conflict-sensitive reporting, fact-checking, ethical considerations, National security.

Following the successful completion of the workshop training attended by officers from Zone 2, media practitioners, private security experts, corporate communications managers, NAOSNP presented certificates to deserving officers from Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan. The recipients includes Zone 2 PPRO, SP Umma Ayuba, Personal Assistant to AIG Olatoye Durosinmi rtd, SP Oloto Maximus, DSP Rasheed Ganiyu (RTD), ASP Akhigbe Godfrey Ehis, Inspector Miller Oche, CPL Jesse Jesse, and Inspector Peter Eche.
The certificates were presented by AIG Olatoye Durosimi rtd, who commended NAOSNP for its efforts in promoting responsible security reporting. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the media in promoting national security.

The NAOSNP certificate presentation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the partnership between NAOSNP and the Nigeria Police Force. NAOSNP reiterated its commitment to promoting accurate and balanced reporting, contributing to a safer and more secure Nigeria. The recipients expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue upholding the highest standards of journalism professionalism in their duties.
