Zenith Bank Expands Footprint in Delta, Opens First Commercial Bank Branch in Osubi
Zenith Bank Plc has strengthened its commitment to financial inclusion and economic development with the official commissioning of a new branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, becoming the first commercial bank to establish a presence in the community.
The landmark branch opening, held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, attracted key stakeholders, including Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, traditional rulers, members of the business community, customers, and residents.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Oborevwori described the development as a significant endorsement of Delta State’s growing economic prospects.
“This is a clear vote of confidence in the economic potential of our state,” the governor said. “It demonstrates that the investments we have made in infrastructure, economic development, and ease of doing business are yielding tangible results. When a leading financial institution like Zenith Bank expands its operations in Delta State, it sends a strong message that our state is open for business and ready to attract greater investment.”
He emphasized the importance of the branch to the host community, noting that it is currently the only banking institution serving the entire Okpe Local Government Area.
“The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overstated because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he added.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, expressed appreciation to the governor for his support in creating an enabling environment for private sector investment.
She noted that the establishment of the Osubi branch reflects the confidence businesses have in Delta State’s economic direction and leadership.
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering support and partnership,” she said. “His generous donation of the land on which this branch stands underscores his administration’s commitment to promoting private sector growth and fostering an environment where businesses can thrive.”
Umeoji further commended the governor’s efforts in driving infrastructure and socio-economic development across the state, stressing that Zenith Bank is proud to contribute to that progress through the new branch.
Describing the Osubi outlet as Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State, she said the expansion represents another milestone in the bank’s long-standing relationship with the state.
She reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to serving underserved communities and supporting individuals, entrepreneurs, women-led businesses, and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) through innovative financial solutions, access to credit, and capacity-building initiatives.
