Alleged ₦450m Land Fraud: Police Set to Arraign Lilyworth Homes CEO as Victims Demand Justice
The Lagos State Police Command has intensified investigations into an alleged ₦450 million land fraud involving the Chief Executive Officer of Lilyworth Homes Ltd, Nnenne Hope Nwizu, as scores of alleged victims continue to cry out for justice.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned following an ongoing investigation by detectives attached to the Anti-Fraud Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, over allegations of obtaining money by false pretence.
Police sources disclosed that the case was transferred from the Ebute-Ero Police Division to the SCID on July 21, 2026, for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
The investigation reportedly followed a complaint filed on July 10, 2026, by Ugwunna Anayo Mark and about 30 other complainants, who alleged that they were induced to pay substantial sums of money for plots of land in the South-East through Lilyworth Homes Ltd.
According to the complainants, each victim allegedly paid approximately ₦9.45 million for the proposed land transactions. However, they claimed that more than two years after making the payments, neither the promised properties nor refunds had been provided.
The complainants further alleged that the suspect subsequently abandoned the company’s known corporate address and relocated to an undisclosed destination, prompting them to petition the police.
Preliminary investigations reportedly indicate that the total amount allegedly collected from the victims may have risen to approximately ₦450 million. Additional alleged victims are also said to be coming forward at the SCID to report similar experiences, raising the possibility that the number of complainants could increase.
Detectives are also investigating allegations that a portion of the funds may have been diverted towards the construction of a massive hotel at a location yet to be officially disclosed.
Police sources said the 41-year-old suspect is currently assisting detectives with the investigation and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The development is the latest in a series of anti-fraud operations by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, under the leadership of DCP Dayo Akinbisehin. The command has continued to intensify its crackdown on organised financial crimes and other criminal activities through intelligence-led investigations and diligent prosecution of suspects.
