The Ijede Police Division of the Lagos State Police Command has been commended for its swift response to a robbery incident in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, with an X user, Joseph Aluko, praising the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team for their prompt intervention and recovery of stolen items.
Aluko, in a post on X monitored by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), said the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 13, 2026, when suspected robbers allegedly attacked four buildings around the Okeletu and Mamood areas of Ijede.
According to him, the suspects operated between approximately 2:30 a.m. and 3:40 a.m., allegedly carting away mobile phones, laptops, wristwatches, cash and other valuables from residents.
He said the police responded after receiving a distress call, leading to the arrest of one of the suspected robbers around Mamood.
Aluko further stated that information reportedly obtained during the investigation helped the police track additional suspects to locations including Apapa, Alaba Rago and Ogijo.
He claimed that approximately 80 per cent of the allegedly stolen items had been recovered by the Ijede Police Division, adding that CCTV footage played an important role in the investigation and identification of the suspects.
The X user commended the Ijede DPO and the police officers involved in the operation, as well as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani; the Alajede of Ijede; and local government authorities for their roles in supporting security efforts.
He also called for stronger intelligence gathering and increased security operations, particularly around suspected criminal hideouts in swampy areas.
Aluko urged residents and other stakeholders to continue supporting security agencies with timely information, stressing that sustained collaboration between the police, traditional institutions, local authorities and communities would help prevent similar incidents and strengthen security across Ijede and other parts of Lagos State.
