The Arewa Community in Ogun State has declared its support for the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), promising to mobilise voters through an extensive door-to-door campaign across the state’s 20 local government areas ahead of the 2027 election.
The endorsement was announced during a consultative meeting held on Tuesday at Senator Yayi’s constituency office in Ilaro, where leaders of the Arewa Community pledged to rally support for the senator and other APC candidates.
The delegation was led by the Director-General of the Southwest Arewa Community, Alhaji Shehu Usman; the Senior Special Assistant on Inter-Ethnic Affairs and Coordinator of Arewa Door-to-Door for Yayi, Prince Hadi Sani; the Sarkin Hausawa of Egbaland, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Hassan; the Sarkin Hausawa of Aworiland, Alhaji Muhammadu Badamasi; the Sarkin Hausawa of Owode Yewa, Alhaji Umar Muhammed Nalado; the Sarkin Hausawa of Sagamu, Alhaji Inuwa Garba; and the Sarkin Hausawa of Ilaro, Alhaji Lawan Musa.
Also present were the Chairman of Ogere Market, Alhaji Bura Muhammed, the Ogun State Women Leader of the Arewa Community, Hajiya Sadiya Garzali, and the Youth Leader, Alhaji Yusuf Adam.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Shehu Usman described Senator Yayi as a detribalised Nigerian whose inclusive leadership and people-oriented programmes have continued to inspire confidence across ethnic and religious divides.
Prince Hadi Sani said the Hausa community believes Senator Yayi possesses the leadership qualities needed to sustain and build on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly in promoting peace, unity and harmonious inter-ethnic relations across Ogun State.
He further disclosed that the Arewa Community had concluded plans to brand 10 campaign buses for Senator Yayi and would commence an aggressive door-to-door mobilisation campaign to canvass support for what he described as “the people’s senator.”
Senator Yayi, who currently represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has intensified consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders and various interest groups across Ogun State as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots support ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The senator recently emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the APC in Ogun State following a series of endorsements by party leaders and stakeholders from the state’s three senatorial districts, further boosting his bid to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun.
