CP Abiodun Alabi: The new Sheriff In Lagos; Set To Bolster The Successes Of AIG Odumosu

A new Commissioner of Police has assumed the leadership of Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command. Before his new role, CP Abiodun Alabi was the Commissioner of Police Administration Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID) Abuja. The crimebuster par excellence will be replacing the hugely successful administrator, AIG Hakeem Odumosu who helped reduce criminality to the barest minimum. This is after the meritorious service of AIG Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu in the Command Headquarters, Ikeja. AIG Hakeem Odumosu will be bowing out of office at the retirement age of 60 this month 25th January, 2022 reports Oki Samson of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP.

AIG Odumosu is noted to have made tremendous progress in maintaining peace, law and order in Lagos state.

Born 31st December 1964, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc mnim psc is an organized and detailed-oriented personality with a taste for high standard of performance. He offered himself in service of this great nation and got enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 3rd March 1990 at the Nigeria Police Academy Kano. At the completion of his rigorous training for eighteen months, he was posted to Abia State where he started his professional career at Central Police Station Aba as Patrol and Guard officer In 1994 he was posted to Osisioma Division Aba as the Division Crime officer (DCO) In 1995 he took over as the officer in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department Annex Aba in Abia State. In 1997 he was deployed to Zone 6, Zonal Headquarters Calabar as the officer in charge of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Crack Squad. In 1998, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

In 1999, he was nominated as a member of pioneer eleven man of Nigeria Police Force Contingent to KOSOVO on peace-keeping under United Nations Mission in KOSOVO (UNMIK). In 2001, after the completion of his mission in KOSOVO he was mobilized into the elite Nigeria Mobile Police Force as a Unit Commander and posted to MOPOL 19 Port Harcourt, Rivers State. In 2002, he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and redeployed to MOPOL Ikeja Lagos as the Second in Command (2i/c) to the Squadron Commander. In 2004 he was deployed to Mopol 43 Diplomatic Protection Squadron in charge of the security of all embassies in Lagos as the Squadron Commander and got promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in 2005. In 2009 he was demobbed from the Mobile Police Force and deployed to Zone Onikan Lagos as officer in charge of Investigation of the Zonal Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi, fdc mnim psc was later redeployed to Lagos State Command in 2011 and posted to Lion Building Lagos as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). In 2012, precisely February he was redeployed from Lion Building Division to Divisional Headquarters Ikeja as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). In 2013, Commissioner of Police Alabin Abiodun fdc mnim psc was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Adminstration of the Mobile Police Force.

In 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Administration. In 2017, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi fdc mnim psc was redeployed to Bayelsa State as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Administration. In 2018, he was redeployed to Ekiti State as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Operations where he was nominated to proceed on Higher Defence and Strategic Course at National Defence College Abuja in 2019.

At the completion of his course as a Fellow of Defence College in July 2020, he was promoted to the enviable rank of Commissioner of Police and deployed to Force Criminal Investigation Department (FORCID) Annex Alagbon Lagos as Commissioner of Police in charge of Central Criminal Registry.

In 2021, precisely February he was redeployed to Bauchi State Command as the Commissioner of Police where he served till November 2021.

Presently, he is the Commissioner of Police Admin Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID) Abuja.

Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun’s quest for excellence and thirst for more knowledge motivated him to enroll into the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in 1988 where he obtained his Masters degree in 1989. This was after he got Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and graduated with a Second Class Upper from the University of Lagos (UNILAG). He is a disciplined officer thoroughbred professional and a dogged crime fighter who brook no nonsense. 

He is a member of Nigeria Institute of Management (mnim) he is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police New York and Fellow of National College (fdc) Abuja.

He enjoys playing lawn tennis and watching detective movies. He is married and blessed with children.
