DG NIEPA PAYS A COURTESY CALL TO NCCE… Harps on Improved Partnership and Collaboration

During a courtesy call at the Office of the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) on Monday 5th September 2022 the Director General of National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA NIGERIA), Ondo, Professor Olivet Jagusah made a passionate call for a symbiotic partnership to evolve between the two parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Education.

Jagusah said, since both agencies are working towards the development of the education sector, there is a need for partnership in the area of system strengthening through capacity building. Professor Jagusah alluded to the ongoing induction programme for 112 Federal Unity School Principals which is a joint partnership between the Federal Ministry of Education and NIEPA Ondo stating that the NCCE could explore the expertise of NIEPA in this regard.

According to the NIEPA boss, NIEPA recently carried out a detailed assessment and verification of 36 states and the FCT’s Medium Term Basic Education Sector Plan (SBMTESP) successfully. This project Jagusah stated, was sponsored by the World Bank under the auspices of FME-BESDA.

Professor Jagusah also used the opportunity to congratulate Prof. Okwelle on his appointment as Executive Secretary and commended his achievements after one year in office.

Responding, the Executive Secretary NCCE, Professor Paulinus Okwelle appreciated the kind gesture of the Director General NIEPA and promised that the management of the commission will look into areas of possible partnership and collaboration between the two agencies.

He appreciated Prof. Jagusah for the visit, describing it as timely and effective for education sector development in Nigeria. He commended the incredible work NIEPA Ondo is doing in the area of capacity building and assured him of a robust partnership between the two parastatals going forward.

He thanked the NIEPA team for the visit and appreciated their sense of conviviality.
