Favy Makes History, Emerges First-Ever MasterChef Nigeria Champion with ₦73m Prize
Twenty-six-year-old Favour Bessan, popularly known as Favy, has made history as the first-ever winner of MasterChef Nigeria, clinching the coveted trophy and a ₦73 million cash prize after 13 weeks of intense culinary competition.
Favy secured the historic victory after overcoming fierce competition from fellow finalist Fads in a thrilling finale that tested the contestants’ creativity, technical skills, composure and decision-making under pressure.
Judged by renowned culinary experts, Chef Stone and Chef Eros, the grand finale challenged both home cooks to prepare a three-course menu that reflected their individual culinary identities.
Before the cooking began, Chef Stone offered the finalists a simple but powerful piece of advice: “Cook from your heart. Put yourself on the plate.”
Favy rose to the occasion with a menu that showcased her confidence, technique and imagination. Her starter of smoked salmon with potato mash and roasted bell pepper soup impressed the judges with its balance of flavour, presentation and storytelling, ultimately earning her the title of Nigeria’s first MasterChef.
Her victory marked the culmination of an impressive journey throughout the competition. Favy consistently demonstrated resilience, poise under pressure and a determination to grow with every challenge.
She also made history earlier in the competition as the first contestant to win the MasterChef Nigeria Immunity Pin, a strategic advantage that proved instrumental in securing her place in the semi-finals.
Overwhelmed with emotion after her victory, Favy described the moment as “a dream come true” and dedicated her achievement to aspiring home cooks who believe that passion, perseverance and hard work can open the door to extraordinary opportunities.
