Chief Dr. Cynthia Gregg, Managing Director/CEO of Safety Signatures Limited and one of Trek Africa’s 25 Most Influential and Role Model Women in Africa, has celebrated the resilience, brilliance, and indispensable contributions of Nigerian and African women on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2025.

In her message, Dr. Gregg emphasized that women are the foundation of progress, from homes to boardrooms, and called for increased participation in governance. She acknowledged that despite the progress made since the Beijing Declaration 30 years ago, many women still face barriers that limit their potential.

Celebrating women worldwide, she said, “Today, on International Women’s Day, we honor the strength, resilience, brilliance, and achievements of all women and girls across Nigeria, Africa, and the world. This year’s theme, ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.’, serves as a powerful reminder of the need to build a safe and inclusive society where every woman and girl can thrive without fear or discrimination.”

At the recent Trek Africa’s 25 Most Influential and Role Model Women in Africa (MIRWA Award) event, held at the Oriental Hotel in Lekki, Lagos, Dr. Gregg reiterated the importance of women’s involvement in governance. She noted that women possess natural problem-solving abilities and leadership qualities that make them well-suited for impactful roles in politics and community development.

“As women, we bring a unique perspective to governance—one that values collaboration, empathy, and inclusivity. We must take our rightful place in leadership, locally and globally, to shape decisions that impact our lives and society,” she stated.

Dr. Gregg also encouraged young girls to pursue careers in technology, security, STEM, arts, and other fields, highlighting the importance of overcoming fear and embracing their potential.

She has made remarkable strides in the private security sector and education, serving as the CEO of Safety Signatures Ltd. and Founder of Gulf Flower Schools. An ordained minister and a lecturer at the RCCG Bible College, Lagos, she holds an Honorary Doctorate from AMES Christian University, Florida, and an Executive MBA from the Commonwealth of Learning, Canada.

The award ceremony also honored other outstanding women, including Dr. Ajoke Ogunsan, Dr. Shade Olukoya, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade, Pharm. Josephine Ehimen, HRM Olori Janet Afolabi, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, and Princess Yeye Lara Fashola, among others.

Dr. Gregg concluded her speech with a call to action: “Let’s encourage our girls to rise into greatness and take on challenges with courage. We are the backbone of our communities, and our perspectives are vital for building a better society.”
