The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, on Monday, August 31, 2026, attended the opening ceremony of a one-day training programme focused on strengthening police preparedness for safe, peaceful and credible elections.
The training, held at the M.D. Abubakar Hall, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, was organised by the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Zonal Headquarters, in collaboration with the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research.
With the theme, “Professionalism, Neutrality and Collaboration: Strengthening Election Security for Safe and Credible Elections,” the programme seeks to enhance the professionalism, neutrality and operational readiness of police personnel ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The training is part of proactive measures by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen the capacity of its personnel and ensure effective security coordination before, during and after the elections.
Participants include the 14 Area Commanders of the Lagos State Command, alongside their counterparts from the Ogun State Command.
The initiative underscores the commitment of the police to professional, impartial and collaborative election security while creating an enabling environment for citizens to exercise their democratic rights peacefully and safely.
